Ushering Orientation

Yesterday was my campus May intake orientation and it was also my second time helping out for this event. I was involved in ushering the students and VIPs. Previously, my jobs were to usher the VIPs and providing information if any. This time there is no information counter and if there is, I wish I am not involved. I don’t want to get another whack by the parents because my friend and I were not brief on what information etc. We had to do our own homework last minute. Damn pissed loh that time! Okay, lets not talk about previously, lets talk about THIS TIME!

Yesterday was pretty fun to be honest; maybe I knew the committees and also knew what to do after previous experience. Moreover, this time was at PD block which is bigger and everything happens at the ground floor. I don’t have to climb up and down the stairs until my shoes almost koyak like before, lol! Besides, I don’t feel bored as there were a lot of students. I heard that there were around 800+ foundation and degree students altogether. Most of them were foundation students. The registration starts at 830am. But many freshmen had already started lining up at 730am. I was supposed to lead the degree students into the hall after their registration. However, kawan baik aku woke up late, so the chairman told me to takeover her job as there were not many degree students. The situation started to go chaos by 8am. The sky was very dark and showing signs that it is going to rain. So we had to go for Plan B. During the rehearsal, the chairman briefed us with 3 plans: Plan A is as usual, Plan B is when it is raining and Plan C is when there is no electricity.

Because I was standing at the entrance, so I told the chairman to prepare for Plan B. He looked at the sky and talked through his walkie-talkie to inform the other committees to prepare for Plan B as it is going to rain. One of the girls from the walkie-talkie shouted so loud, “HAR!!” Lol…

At around 810am, we had to let the students into the hall before they get wet outside. When the freshies walked in, they kept looking at the signs we had pasted for Plan A and I am like a tape recorder, “Please have a seat inside first, please have a seat inside first, please have a seat inside first…” There were many parents as well, so we also set up a parents’ area for them to wait for their children as they cannot follow their children into the hall and registration. Because of last minute changes, one female big shot and one lady who is in-charged for Mass Call helped to assist the freshmen as well.

By 930am, most of the freshmen were already inside the hall. We prepared another room as well if the hall is overloaded. After that time, we got to sit down and chit-chat. The campus is kindda hot as the air-con is not cold enough to cool so many people. Therefore, there were many stand fans at the corner.

At 130pm, we had to usher the freshmen to their respective rooms for a briefing from the Head of Departments (HOD). My job was to usher the degree students. When I lead some of them into the room, I peeped inside the room and guess what! I saw my project supervisor! I was like “Oh shyt… Please don’t see me.” Thus, I switched places with my friends. The consequence of not finishing my chapters earlier… hehe ^^.

When everything settled, our next task was at 330pm – Mass Call. From there, we had to usher the degree students into the hall. While waiting, we started to make friends with other helpers and ushers by chit chatting outside the degree HOD briefing room. There were eight of us fooling around outside as we do not want to go inside and listen to the briefing. So I made friends with these two very funny friends, a girl and a boy. They said they were buddies by hitting their own chest. They were always teasing each other in a funny way.

At the beginning, I thought I don’t have to put on my blazer because I am not ushering the VIPs but I did bring along just in case. So when it was about 330pm, the chairman asked the vice in front of me, “Do you still need more VIP ushers? She is very good at it as she experienced before…” (swt -.-lll) The vice then said, “Okay”. I dragged along my friend who ushered the VIPs with me previously and quickly put on our blazers and rushed to the VIP room to check what drink we were going to serve them. However, the two experience ones were given the task to usher the VIPs into the room and not serving them this time. While the two friends inside who were new in it were so nervous like how we felt previously. They were pushing each other to ask the VIPs what they want to drink, lol. Furthermore, I think the committee who was involved in ushering the VIPs did not do a good job. She dare not tell the big shots to wait inside the room and I even heard her talking to herself in mandarin when all the VIPs were standing outside of the room talking, “Aiyo, zhen me ban ar (How ar)? Guan ta men (let them be) lah.” Then she walked away. She also didn’t brief the two friends inside the room on how to serve the VIPs and what to do. Instead, do you know what she said? She said “don’t treat them like handicaps; they will pour the coffee and tea themselves.” In the end, we had to teach our two friends. What a shame, name sake… Vivi, if you are reading this, well, you did a great job by briefing Teng and I, =D.

When the president of UTAR arrived, all of us had to usher the VIPs into the hall. After that, there were some of us went into the VIP room and sip some coffee, tea or yin yong, lol. Our vice then came in and said any three of us had to go inside the hall because there were only two people ushering the VIPs. All of them were looking at the three of us who were wearing blazers and also good friends. However, two of my friends had already poured themselves a cup of coffee and yin yong. Thus, the vice gave them 5 minutes to drink their beverages. The vice was very polite to us, instead, according to my friend, another committee who was in-charged of registration was teasing my two friends for drinking so slow. Hello! You are supposed to go inside; we are only helpers, tak ada pangkat pun, &%#^@$^! Well, I dislike her the first time I see her…

After the big shots had left, we were free again. So we started taking pictures, snap, snap, snap…! =D When we were about to leave, the chairman suddenly stopped us. He needed our help to collect the 800+ forms from the freshmen as most of the helpers had left.

Teng > Yean > I

Teng > Yean > I

Many parents were outside of the room waiting for their children. Some parents were so pitiful. They waited at the campus the whole day! My gawdd… They slept at the parents’ area, some made friends with another aunty, some fathers read newspapers etc.

I took the train home after that and when I got inside the car, I quickly took off my heels. When I reached home, I dipped my feet into warm water, syoik betul. After sitting down on the sofa, I don’t feel like moving anymore… I supposed to sleep early that day, before 12am, however, my friend who online around 11pm something and said I ffk him, he felt so disappointed, Hahahahaha… He actually sent me a FB message that morning while waiting for his transit back home that where will he go after that. Unfortunately, I was at the campus the whole day, so I only saw his message at 8pm. Sorry dude… Hahaha.

I enjoyed this orientation very much because I get to meet so many new people and knowing that two buddies! *hit chest*

American Idol Season 8 - A disappointing Result For Me

I… I can’t believe that Kris Allen was crowned the next American Idol instead of Adam Lambert. What a disappointing result for me, I wonder what happen to the American voters. I knew the result through Hitz.fm in the afternoon. If not because it was raining heavily and I was forced to turn off my computer, I am still joyfully, excitedly, guarantee and assure that Adam will be the winner.

When Natalie, the deejay of Hitz.fm announced that Kris Allen was the winner, my mouth was wide open and turned on the volume louder even though my younger brother was taking a nap next room. I was not prepared to receive that news so I continued listening as Natalie said they have a short interview with Paula Abdul and also Adam Lambert.

After 2 songs, Natalie reconfirmed me that “Adam Lambert is the runner’s up for American Idol Season 8”. I looked at my radio and shouted, “WHAT?!? This is sark!” Although, Adam wasn’t showing any sign of disappointment but boy oh boy, I felt disappointed for you. One of the hitz.fm crew who was at the event asked Adam to say a few words to Malaysia, he said “I love you”. LOL.

Why do I think Adam should be the winner instead of Kris? Here are my reasons: Adam has the looks to be an idol – Elvis Presley the second, he has his own identity such as his eyeliner, nail polish and scream. He looks great in whatever he wears especially black suit and leather outfit. Besides being a singer, he can also be a model. He always make the crowd stood on their feet after his performances and yet he still lost, maybe he should try capturing their hearts instead of their feet like Kris. Furthermore, Simon Cowell said that his vote is on Adam to be the next American Idol during the Oprah Show. Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Kara all gave him positive comments during the final showdown. Simon as well.

However, no offence to Kris Allen’s fans, He is lucky to have so many people voting for him. Kris is a nice and humble person. He is an underdog in the competition. I didn’t expect him to reach even the top 4 but I should say, his first song during the final showdown was perfect! I just hope when he records his new single – ‘There’s no boundaries’, he won’t break his voice.

Here are some brief information about Kris Allen (tv.popcrunch.com): Full name Kristopher Neil Allen. He was born on June 21, 1985 in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Kris played viola in his high school orchestra, including winning a spot in his state’s all-state orchestra. He learned to play the guitar when he was 13 and also plays piano and ukulele. Kris produced an album “Brand New Shoes” with college friends and band mates in 2007. A religious belief as a Christian and a worship leader at New Life Church in Arkansas and the Chi Alpha campus ministry at the University of Central Arkansas. Besides, Kris has done missionary work in Burma, Morocco, Mozambique, South Africa, Spain and Thailand. He has married his high school girlfriend, Katy O’Connell on September 26, 2008 (Aw, he is married, wow ~).

Brief information about Adam Lambert (top40.about.com): Adam Lambert was born on January 29, 1982. His family moved to California from Indiana when he was one year old, and he grew up in San Diego, California. Adam had extensive involvement in theater, band, and choir throughout his school years. He began acting on the stage as a child. Adam was the understudy for the part of Fiyero in a touring company of the musical Wicked as well as appearing in a production of the musical The Ten Commandments starring Val Kilmer. He performs regularly at the Zodiac Show and the Upright Cabaret.

Adam auditioned for the eighth season of American Idol singing Queen’s classic “Bohemian Rhapsody.” He was criticized for being theatrical by Simon Cowell and Kara DioGuardi, but he advanced to the Hollywood round despite the complaints. There, he performed a stunning version of Cher’s “Believe,” and he has been a favorite to win the competition since that point.

The only reason that Adam lost might be people couldn’t accept that he is gay, show an unhealthy image to the younger generation and not a good role model. Kris on the other hand is like a boy next door. Below are their photos:- (TOP: Kris Allen, winner of American Idol 8) (BELOW: Adam Lambert, my American Idol =D)

How to maintain a relationship?

My elder brother ended his 6 months relationship with his girlfriend last month. None of us in the family knew about it but we did feel suspicious. My mum, younger brother and I started to discuss about this matter when my elder brother was at work.

I asked my mum, “How come ah goh didn’t talk on the phone at night already? Credit die? Or didn’t pay his phone bill again?” Mum said, “I dont know, most probably didn’t pay his phone bill. The bill is still on top of the cabinet.” Mum then questioned my lil brother who was also his ‘roomate,’ “Did ah goh talk on the phone nowadays?” Lil brother then gave us some juicy news that the girl called him more often these few nights. My elder brother however, always the one who ended the conversation after a few minutes. Telling her that he is very tired and wants to sleep now where he is actually lying. After he put down the phone, he took out his PSP and play.

My mum then added, when he fetch my elder brother from the LRT station at night, the girl called again and he scolded her, “Why do you always call me when i am in the car?” Don’t you feel the girl is so innocent? hmmm…

Last few days, my mum and i kept guessing, is he still in a relationship or back to single life? All of us dare not ask him, well to be exact, he came home very late. Most of us were in bed by the time. My mum can’t take it anymore so she checked his wallet. The picture of him and her is NOT THERE! It shows a bad sign… My mum was so excited that she found some new information and told me immediately when i woke up. My mum is so funny and cute sometimes, lol.

When we were about to conclude that my brother broke off with her, my mum came into the study room whispering to me again. “I think he is still with her, just now that phone call i think it’s from her…” I looked at my mum, seeing her expression with full of doubt, so i suggested, “Why not you go and ask him now. It will clear all the question marks surrounding your head, good idea right?” My mum laughed and tickled me…

She did accept my suggestion. The next day, she asked him, “Are you still with your girlfriend? How come you didnt talk on the phone for many many nights already?” My elder brother then said, “Fen liao loh! (broke off already loh).” My mum, “HUH?!!?!? WHY?? She has another boyfriend?” Bro, “Nolah, i dont like her kept calling me and check me. So annoying. Last time she called me at night, now she called me when i am working. Said wanna chat,  she is very boring…” My brother also said that he told her that he is at work and couldnt chat with her, she got mad. My brother has to work from Monday to Saturday, 10am to 11pm, depends on his work load.  Earliest, 9pm he will reach home. So the only day he could have a good rest is Sunday but he has to spend the whole day with her. So, my brother said he is very tired of it and she is not the one he is looking for.

The girl on the other hand, still continue calling him even though they broke off, the girl said she will change her attitude and asked my bro to give her another chance, my bro said, “NO! I dont want.” My elder brother is usually very polite to girls and tries to control his foul words when talking to girls. So i was surprised that he treated his girlfriend so harsh and merciless. Maybe he is really tired of her behaviour and meeting her every night after work.

Well, it seems that calling your partner too often is not a good thing and call less is not good either. So, call or don’t call?? @@ For me, if i have a boyfriend,  i don’t think i will call and check his whereabouts because i dont like it too. Well, it is really hard for me to comment about relationship stuff cause i havent experience it yet. My elder bro and his ex are still friends, they still chat with each other on msn, maybe they are only meant to be friends. I only met the girl twice and she is a silent typed of person to me. I can’t believe a girl actually asked my brother to give her a second chance, seems that my bro attracts girls as well, hahahaha! I always think that girls will only run away from him because he is afraid to hurt others feelings.

So, how to maintain a relationship then? MY answer is “It is fated…”

Cockroaches ATTACK!

This happens 2 days ago…

On that day, a girl was happily watching Astro Star Quest 2009 at 130am. She even sang along with the contestants as there were lyrics below the screen. After that, she was thirsty so she went into the kitchen wanted to drink a cup of water. Before she could get a cup, she nearly stepped onto a cockroach as she did not turn on the kitchen light. The girl quickly ran out from the kitchen, looking at the kitchen floor from far and does not know what to do. The cockroach had already hid under the oven when it saw her coming into the kitchen.

The day before, she already saw the cockroach crawling from the kitchen to the dining area. She quickly took a newspaper and passed it to her elder brother and pointed at the cockroach. However, she did not know that her elder brother was also afraid of it! He walked towards the cockroach and threw the newspaper, the cockroach ran away and crawled to the guest room. Geez, the girl was so disappointed with her brother who looks so brown and manly, but actually threw the newspaper and told her to “Forget about it…” -.-

The next day, she told her mother that she saw the cockroach crawled towards the guest area. Her mum then asked her, “Did you hit it?” She said, “I passed the newspaper to Ah goh, but i didn’t expect him to be afraid of cockroach as well, so it ran away.” Her mum then said, Stupid boy…”

After she was frighten by the cockroach at the kitchen looking hopelessly, she told her younger brother who was playing online game. “Neng, got cockroach… I don’t know where it went already…” Her younger brother quickly stood up, turned on the kitchen light and checked the kitchen. “Where did you saw it?” The girl pointed at the oven. He kneel down to check the cabinet and the oven. However, no sign of that cockroach. The kitchen light suddenly blink and frighten the 2 siblings who were prepared to fight against the cockroach. Well, to be exact, her younger brother is prepared.

After checking every corner of the kitchen and still no sign of the cockroach, she continued watching ATQ and placed a water bottle, Shieldtox and newspaper beside her. Her younger brother continued with his online game.

The programme ended at 3am, she was expecting the cockroach to crawl out from the kitchen but it didnt. As she was about to put the Shieldtox away, she checked the kitchen again and screamed! The cockroach was on its way out, she quickly threw the Shieldtox to her younger brother. Her brother then spray towards the ugly creature. The creature was still alive and it crawled towards the plastic bag on the floor with sweet potatoes inside their dad had bought. Her brother had to stop spraying and waited for it to crawl further out. When it crawled out, her younger brother used a newspaper and slammed it hardly, POMP! It was dead… She was so relief.

However, that was not the end. Her younger brother wanted to use the tissue to scoop it up but she suggested to use a broom and dustpan and flushed it down the toilet bowl. When she was about to get the broom at the kitchen, it crawled out another one! She screamed again and ran down to the living room holding her dear live. Her toes were curled inwards, her hands were squeezing her shirt and her teeth was biting her lips. Her anti Cicakman brother picked up the newspaper again but this cockroach was playing hide and seek with him. It crawled inside the fridge then it came out, then it crawled in again and came out.

Her younger brother patiently waited for it to crawled out further and sent it to hell instantly. While waiting, the girl suddenly screamed again and frightened her brother. “Why? Another one?” The girl said, “No, no, no. Mental unstable, i felt something crawled on my feet, heheh.” The creature finally crawled out and her brother gave it another pancake slammed. Both creatures were flushed down and both siblings were sweating. They were making a lot of noise at 3am. Her elder brother just came back from “late night drink”.

After killing 2 cockroaches in 15 minutes, she does not need to be afraid to go into the kitchen and guest room. That morning, her mum had sense something amiss. She smelt dead cockroaches and Sheildtox. That was probably because her younger brother slammed the 2 cockroaches too hard and the ‘juice’ squeezed out, hahaha. Her mother indirectly said “Aiyo, this morning, the house smelt like dead cockroaches. I remembered you told me there was a cockroach at the guest area right?” She confidently told her mum, “Oh, yah. Neng killed 2 cockroaches in 15 minutes. Dont know why so many cockroaches suddenly.” Her mum, “No wonder…”

Suddenly, she felt her younger brother is so brave and started to change her view towards him. In her mind, she always thinks her younger bro is a little soft, not manly enough. But on that day, he was like a hero to her compared to her elder brother. No wonder his friends who came to our house and told my mum, her son is attracted by many girls in the school. She had a great laugh, “Are you sure?? Chan Neng? My brother? maybe because he is smart…” The girl also agrees with what her mum said a few years ago that her younger brother should be the eldest. So he can teached, showed a good example and motivate his elder brother and sister.

Before ending this post, the girl in the story who almost screamed to death by cockroaches is me, Machine. A machine gun without bullets.

Last day of exam

May 4th is the Sutanium Day and also the last day of exam. This is a special day for Su Teng. So, why does it call Sutanium? This name was created by Giant Chen where she combined Teng’s name and it turned out to be Sutanium, lol.

We hang out from 12pm to 12am. So tired after that day as i woke up at 510am. Giant had organised an ice skating trip even before the start of our exam, so the only place for ice skating is Sunway Piramid. At first, i thought it was an EL outing where most of my course mates were going, however, it turned out to be only 7 girls. So the 7 of us crashed into Teng’s Avanza.

Before heading to Sunway, we stopped at PJ ss i don’t know for lunch. They called it “wai sek gai,” where there are long stretch of food stalls selling different type of foods.

While on our way, we were talking and laughing, I forgotten what we were laughing but basically, just some crappy conversation. Forgot after the day, hahaha. I only remembered i said we were going to Penang when we crossed a highway where the side of road built like a Penang bridge. *orang sakai =D*

When we were at Sunway, we all accompanied Ojisan to M.A.C as she wanted to buy a lipstick. The Malay promoter was so rude and unfriendly, seeing us “muka macam mui mui zhai, gao gao zhen erm hai bong chan.” After introducing many different shades of lip colours to Ojisan and none suits her, she told Ojisan, “Why not you choose yourself.” Then she left. Babi Utan, unprofessional promoter, makan jagung. Her make up macam hantu with dark blue eye shadow… Although i also gave up in helping Ojisan to choose, but she as a promoter can’t show that kind of attitude. Yes i know you look down on us because we are students, can’t students use M.A.C cosmetics? I think she doesn’t even have a degree thats why she is sitting in the shop, HAHAHAHA! *i am so evil*

After that, Teng, Ms Cookie, Giant and Jeannie went for ice skating. DB, Ojisan and I went window shopping and took photos around Sunway Piramid and even went outside Sunway Hotel where we saw some very ‘cun’ cars. After walking for three hours and they skate for three hours, we decided to take dinner at 6pm. While deciding on what to eat, we came across Delifrance having students’ meal only RM9.90 and unlimited refill of Root Beer. We sat there from 6pm to 8pm and only refilled once. We chat about our first day at Uni, some weird people we met at LRT and buses…etc. Our stomachs were so heavy and wanted to burst, but after we went to the wash room, it felt much better. lol.

Then, we went old wing, took some photos and left. While on our way back to new wing, Ojisan imitated the pose of the model on the wall, we didn’t managed to capture her pose because there were too many people.

When we were about to leave at around 9pm something, Teng had a suggestion - Have supper at PJ, Mega. A Hawaian style open air food stalls. The waiters were dressed in flowery shirt, a short and a hat. They even have this “bee bee” button where you pressed the button and the waiter will come and take your order. We were very curious about this little toy as we didn’t see it before. Most of us thought they are promoting this little machine, then Ojisan saw the button written - PRESS. She happily pressed three times and the waiter came over, “Yes?” Ojisan was dumb founded as she did not plan to order anything. In the end she ordered a cup of drink. Consequences of itchy hand, lol.

After supper, we left the place at around 1130pm. Teng sent every one of us home. I am the last passenger, so i reached home at 12am. My mum said, “WAH! Hang out until now?!” My lil bro said, “This is the first time ah jie went out until so late.” haha.

This song had stuck in DB and my mind after the outing, “my my my my poker face, my my my poker face…” We listened to that song by Lady Gaga 3 times at Sunway.
